Brenda Mallory
This Oregon sculptor builds gorgeous installations with elements from nature and explores organic patterns and forms in addition to physics and biology. Her work is incredibly beautiful, I love it.
Renee Hartig
The colors and brushwork in her landscapes are extremely cool, I can't stop admiring them.
Kevin Greeland
Kevin is an old friend, fantastic artist, and an amazing art teacher now based in San Diego, CA. Check out his gorgeous artwork.
Eli Halpin
An Austin, TX based artist who creates awesome paintings of animals, fish, and trees with gorgeous colors, textures, and media! I'm a proud owner of one of Eli's paintings - it hangs over my bathtub and I wallow in it every time I take a bath.
Hung Liu
Hung Liu is a Chinese artist who immigrated to San Francisco and paints about her history and cultural identity - she uses paint in unique ways with a cool drip technique. She's been one of my favorite artists for a long time.
Anselm Kiefer
This famous German artist has also been a favorite of mine for a long time. His huge works are made of paint and all kinds of collaged materials and are always wildly intriguing to me. Sometimes he uses bulldozers and small cranes to lift and drop bags of marble dust or broken glass onto the paintings that have been painted strategically with epoxy and then shakes off the excess. He walks across huge piles of broken glass in flip flops with an attitude of reckless abandon - he's a crazy genius.....
Faith Ringgold
Another very famous artist that I've loved for a long time. She frames her paintings with quilted borders and writes stories onto her work. She's also written several children's books. I've taught with her artwork a million times and never get tired of it.
Andy Goldsworthy
An environmental artist who makes amazing artworks with nothing but things he finds in nature and then photographs it. Truly mesmerizing.
Chris Drury
Also a land/environmental artist who works with nature. He has done all kinds of different projects that are very interesting.
